Zara's Skateboarding Journey

Zara watched the older kids at the skate park doing tricks on their skateboards. She thought it looked so cool! She wanted to try skateboarding too, but she didn't have a skateboard. She asked her mom if she could get one for her birthday.

On her birthday, Zara's mom surprised her with a brand-new skateboard. It was purple with pink wheels, and it was perfect! But Zara didn't know how to ride it yet. She felt a little worried. Her older brother, Jay, saw her looking at the skateboard. "I can teach you," he said with a smile.

The next day, Jay took Zara to an empty parking lot. It was a safe place to practice. Jay showed Zara how to stand on the skateboard with one foot in the middle and one foot on the ground. "Push with your back foot to move forward," Jay explained. Zara tried it slowly. At first, she wobbled and had to jump off, but Jay caught her and made sure she was okay.

Zara practiced for one hour. She fell down three times, but each time she got back up. She didn't give up. By the end of the hour, Zara could push the skateboard and move forward without falling! Jay cheered for her.

The following week, Zara practiced every day after school. She learned how to turn the skateboard by leaning to the side. She also learned how to stop by dragging her back foot on the ground. Zara was getting better and better!

Finally, Zara felt brave enough to go to the skate park. She rode her skateboard slowly around the park. Some of the older kids noticed her and gave her a thumbs up. One girl named Sofia came over and said, "Nice job! Keep practicing, and you'll be doing tricks soon!" Zara felt so proud and excited.
