Ashley's Collection
Ashley's Collection
It seemed like everyone in the world had a collection. Nearly all of Ashley's friends saved something. Louis collected hats, Janine collected seashells, and Rory collected baseball cards. Juan had a coin collection, Dakoda had Legos, and Mark had action figures. Even her baby brother had an assortment of stuffed animals!
"I wish I had some kind of collection," Ashley said with a frown.
"Just start one!" said Granny, with a big smile on her face.
"I don't know what to collect or how to start."
Ashley tossed her bookbag onto the bench, and her Disney World key ring made a loud clanking sound. The noise made Granny jump, but it also gave her an idea.
"What an adorable key ring," said Granny. "Did you get that when you went to Disney last year?"
Granny walked over to the bench to admire the Minnie Mouse key ring. "Yes, Dad bought it for me at Magic Kingdom," Ashley answered. "That was such a fun vacation! I can't wait to go back someday."
"Whenever I see my key ring, I think about what a wonderful time we had."
There was another key ring attached to the opposite side of Ashley's bag.
"Where did you get this one?" Granny asked.
"This one was from our trip to Cedar Point where I rode my favorite roller coaster, Top Thrill Dragster."
Ashley's eyes opened wide.
"Hey, I know what I can collect, Granny—key rings! They're everywhere, and they don't cost too much."
Granny winked and smiled.
"I have an idea," she said. She pulled something out of her purse. "I'll donate this key ring to get you started."
Ashley was thrilled—she had the beginning of a collection. And she knew she could buy a key ring almost any time her family visited a new place. Finally, she would have a real collection.
